Revealed: Oron APC Candidate Scams Excited PDP

News making the rounds has it that the Oron Federal Constituency candidate of the APC in the rerun election scheduled for Saturday March 12, Mr. Victor Ini Okon has withdrawn from the elections and resigned from the APC. He held a Press Conference to make the announcement in Uyo merely 20 hours to the elections. But Rootnews has it on good authority that the man has actually swindled the PDP with the move.
Information obtained by our correspondent reveals that Mr Victor Okon who had earlier in February, turned down overtures by key PDP leaders in Oro nation including Hon Victor Antai, the Commisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, was invited by the present Oron transition committee chairman, Mr Orman Esin, to secret talks last Friday, a day to his scheduled campaign rally.
A deal is said to have been struck in the meeting with Mr. Okon asked to prove his commitment to the deal by staying away from the campaign the next day. He heeded the offer and stayed back as asked.
By announcing his resignation today it appears he has fulfilled his part of the deal. But has he?
Firstly, Mr. Okon, who is known for his thoroughness and attention to detail clearly announced that he has not resigned from the All Progressives Congress, but from the All People’s Congress, as seen circled in the image of the Press Release from which he read at the Conference.
Next, he refused to answer questions fired at him by bewildered press men who attended the conference, referring them to his press release.
Finally, he attended the Press conference alone, not with the traditional show of supporters who would have followed him out of the party.
It is believed that the Honourable, having received whatever offer from the PDP to abandon the APC, has played safe so he can successfully argue his case out should confrontations arise.
